Adventure - Abseiling.
Abseiling, or ‘rappelling’, is a method of descending a rope in a safe, controlled manner. Of course, the rope is often hanging over a cliff face or dangling from an overhang! Abseiling has gained widespread use and acceptance in many fields such as climbing, caving, rescue, scientific field research and in the military. Few things compare to the sensation of adrenalin you feel as you first step off the edge of a cliff. Our friendly instructors will help you through every step of the way. Once you have conjured up the courage to descend you’ll definitely want another go! This is a fully guided 4 hour experience on real rock. You will receive continual encouragement and instruction on rock safety, abseiling equipment and techniques.
Forward Running Abseiling
Abseiling down a cliff face head first combines the Adrenalin pumping thrill of bungy, with the control of abseiling. For anyone who finds normal abseiling a bit tame, Forward Abseiling is the next step up in adventure! Originally invented for the military and tactical teams to rapidly descend and enter an unknown location, it is challenging physically and mentally.
Located at the spectacular cliffs around Victor Harbor, 90 minutes south of Adelaide, you will get to run down a whopping 30 metre cliff face. The 3 hour session commences with a full safety briefing and introduction to the equipment followed by a skill and technique session. Initially you will forward run down a simple small cliff so you get the skills up for the next step, a 15 metre cliff with an over hang. Finally you will get to have a crack at the 30 metre drop ending near where the crashing ocean waves meet the cliff. This is a half day adventure activity for the real thrill seeker.
